A man and his dog survived the raging wildfire tearing through Southern California by hiding in a creek. Matt Armbruster had ignored official orders to evacuate his Agoura Hills home, but when he noticed the flames closing in on his house he headed to a nearby creek with his pooch at his side.
They stayed in the water for almost two hours while the fire raged and burned all around them. Armbruster admitted that he feared he would die there. Luckily, both he and his dog escaped the fire more or less unscathed.
At least 29 people have perished so far in the fire, making it one of the most deadly wildfires in state history.
